Gender Confirmation Surgery (GCS)

A Medical Necessity to The Treatment of Many Transgender People

The American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Psychiatric we Association, assert that this care is medically necessary to treat gender dysphoria for many Transgender people. Denying Transgender people, the medically necessary health care they need, as directed by their doctor, can contribute to depression, anxiety, mental disorders, and increased suicides in the community especially among the Transgender children. The Transgender community deserve better care and protections for their lives and families. The gender dysphoria a Transgender person goes through can be a very severe condition that needs treatment to get better, part of that treatment can be Gender Confirmation Surgery (GCS) to help treat the condition. This treatment is medically necessary to better the lives of some Transgender people. Not all Transgender people want surgery and that’s a personal decision of their own, so should be the choice to have the procedure done if the patient and their doctor deem it to be a medically necessary procedure to better the condition of the lives of the Transgender person.
